MegaLight™ gas discharge lamps
The light source in all our MegaLight™ products are discharge lamps. The light is generated by continues arcing between the two electrodes inside the gas filled lamp. The gas is Xenon.
Compared with halogen bulbs gas discharge lamps gives much more light output, better light distribution and considerably lower level of radiated heat.

Driver and controller
Any Xenon HID light source requires a driver and an electronic controller. Mega-Light™ system has separate driver, which usually is integrated in the lamp armature and a separate electronic controller.
This while it's an advantage to keep electronics inside the cab or building, where it's protected from both chock, vibration, but also sometimes theft. The maximum distance between controller and driver is 50 meters, which is enough for most applications.
